This one - let's call him José - is the third Buhaus I've done, but it's the first one with a modest mythology captured within its plumage. Inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia de Muertos, José sports a bold palette of vivid colors which are used to depict otherwise gloomy, even funerary, symbols such as skulls. This life & death duality is present everywhere. From the tentacle-spirals on each side - symbolizing both the ascent into creative splendor and the descent into the awaiting underworld - to the Tree of Seven Fruits on the top of José's head, the seventh fruit being Death itself. Each growth, each life ends in death and each death makes room for new life, spring after winter, day after night. Death and Rebirth, the perpetual cycle in the quest for Truth, that's what José is all about. Either that or just a dumb, pretty bird.

Adding magic to a white Buhaus usually takes about 2 weeks. While we ask for some cues for the artistic direction of the painted final piece, found that best results come with giving the artist expressive freedom.
